J.P. Morgan has appointed David Clarkson to head its prime brokerage business for EMEA in London.

He will start the role later this month and will report to Teresa Heitsenrether, global head of prime brokerage.

Clarkson was previously chief of staff in prime services at Credit Suisse. He was instrumental in leading Credit Suisse’s acquisition of Prime Fund Services from ABN Amro, and has held positions including global head of prime security services and head of European and Asian prime services. Prior to this, he worked at Deutsche Bank as European head of equity swaps.

J.P. Morgan gained a huge footprint in the prime brokerage world following its 2008 acquisition of Bear Stearns. The bank has repeatedly stated it intends to become one of the leading prime brokers in Europe.
