AIMA has named former SEC commissioner Kathleen Casey as its new non-executive chairman.

She will replace Todd Groome, who was a former advisor at the Monetary and Capital Markets Department at the IMF before joining the hedge fund industry association back in 2009.

Casey joined the SEC in 2006 and was the agency’s representative to IOSCO and the Financial Stability Board (FSB). She was also chair of the IOSCO Technical Committee.

Prior to joining the SEC, she worked in Congress serving as staff director and counsel at the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee. Her work focused on trade and finance, banking, securities, insurance regulation, money laundering and terror finance.
